A unit of the Negawatt Economy
Water conservation that can be verified, measured, and valued.
1 negalitre = 1 megalitre of water conserved.
A negalitre is water not taken, recorded so it can be examined.
The unit
A megalitre supplied and a megalitre not taken from a stressed system have the same standing, once they are measured.
Unused water is an account, not a leftover. The negalitre is the name of that account: one million litres conserved, written so another person can check the figure.
It sits beside the negawatt. Energy not used. Water not taken. Both are records, not promises.
The measure
- 1 Negalitre (NL)
- 1 megalitre of water conserved. 1,000,000 litres not taken.
- Standing
- Equal to a megalitre supplied, once measured.
- Kind of record
- A signal. A discipline. A yield. Not an offset story.
